Great shoes but fit atleast a half size smaller than my normal size... tight around my toesI purchased both these and the supposedly identical MID version and they are quite different shoes. First one VERY big gripe. The weight listed is PER SHOE. Who does this? I was expecting a super light weight shoe, but instead got an average weight pair. The good points:The shoe fits well. It is soft and flexibile like my favorite (now discontinued) OBOZ Traverse.Style is excellent. The shoe feels like it has a rigid and sticky sole. I think it would hold up well to extensive mileage. It has really rigid edges which would really be great for technical climbing.Quality seems excellent.Although the shoe is narrow "typical for EU shoes", it has good room at the toes.I have issues with other shoes that ride too high and rub the bottom of my ankle bone. These do not.Good but not excellent inserts. The bad points:The lacing is finicky. There is no lock lace at all so you have to double knot to keep the laces tied.In order to get good support I have to really crank down on my lacing and then I experience some pressure points on the top of my foot above the arch. The supposedly identical MID boot has lock lacing and does not fit the same (it is much more comfortable) over the arch. The heel doesn't lock in perfectly (again I think this is a lacing flaw). The laces are slightly too short for technical lacing patterns.I will likely be sending these back in favor of the mids and in hopes of finding a more lightweight low cut shoe. But I can see how they might meet others needs well. These are wonderful shoes, but it took me a while to agree with another reviewer and realize they run 1/2 size small. The toe box was too narrow for me. The next size up was just fine. Once I got the size figured out, which took quite a while, they are superb. Fantastic traction, comfortable, good support, just great. Nice style too. I used to wear Oboz Sawtooth (the first one), and those were wonderful, but the II had issues with me, so I ended up with these. Couldn’t be happier. I just hope they last, but they seem durable enough.I will say I have been very impressed with this company and how they make there shoes I have had around ten pair of salewa shoes not just this pair but others I got these to replace my current work shoes that were worn out so I do body work and I can put my shoes though pure hell these guys hold up for around a year that being said they comfortable and definitely keep the dust and water out the goretex does a great job I have only had this pair for three days know and they are feeling good on my feet for 12 hrs a day my feet do not hurt at allFit well, lacing a bit tricky to get snugged upThe right shoe didn’t fit like the left shoe. It seemed larger than the left one. The shoes hurt my feet after the first hike so I thought it was due to not being broken in. I hiked twice more and the shoes still hurt my feet.Runs at least one size small.I bought this last month June, 2021.I couldn't fine any deffect. will be best to all.I have been an avid buyer of Salewa approach shoes and walking boots for some years now and had these delivered on the 21st March 2021 yes that's just three months ago but only really used them in the last two weeks walking....and that's when the issue became apparent!Firstly the shoe fits wonderfully, looks great and comfortable to wear, however they are not fit for purpose. You will notice from my images that both shoes are now compromised on the inside step where the shoe bends whilst walking. The damage has been done in little over two weeks worth of walking and only about 4-5 miles a day! This shoe is not even three months old!I have contact Salewa and despite me telling them of the issue, which I have noticed on other buyers on Amazon they would not offer a refund, sadley this will be the last shoe I buy from Salewa.Amazon won't take them back due to being over 30 days. This is clearly a design fault and clearly should not happen in a shoe of less than three months old with little use.Take heed, dont but these shoes...Amazon you need to remove this item, it is not fit fur purpose and clearly should not be sold as such!5 Stars to Amazon though who will refunding my money once the shoes are returnedUpdate - Amazon have been great and provided a full refundLove these shoes - good all-around yet I would recommend you play around with laces to suit you like some part got heat spot (everyone is different), which easy sort lace and wear a correct sock, and do breaking process with this shoes - few days - it becomes comfort and less blister as shoes become "used" glad as most hiking boot take few weeks.very good light hiking boot it is more cross - Trainer shoes and Hiking boot make a baby - this shoes ;-)highly recommend these shoes. ( I brought it for 103 pounds when it is actaully worth 135-160 in most of the shop) lucky I grab this price drop.I had a few pairs of Salewa Firetail Evo and thought they were great. So I purchased the Mountain Trainer Lite with confidence.Initially I was very pleased with them. However after about 9 months average use I noticed the creases either side of where the foot bends showing signs of wear. This quickly got worse and a small tear appeared and you could see the lining. I returned them under warranty (Amazon's customer service was great) and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and had a replacement pair.Unfortunately the same thing happened, this time one side actually split.I do average walking and have never had a pair of walking shoes or boots fail so soon. So they are clearly not fit for the intended purpose. The material used for the uppers is clearly not strong enough. So they are not recommended.Accurate sizing and great quality. Comfortable to wear straight out of the box. A fairly aggressive sole that should give decent grip on the slippery stuff.Really comfortable shoe with good grip.LikesComfortSoleFitDislikesDisappointed that the mesh upper has become faulty in less than 12 months and that there is no Salewa support in the UK.
